Biography
Melissa Messina assists clients on public and commercial finance matters with a focus on the senior living, health care and education industries, as well as economic development matters.
She serves as counsel to commercial and investment banks, political subdivisions, economic development agencies, for-profit and nonprofit entities, corporate trustees and bond purchasers in all types of tax-exempt and taxable bond transactions. She has also served as bond counsel on conduit bond financing transactions for life plan communities, hospitals, charter schools, independent schools, universities and other 501(c)(3) organizations, as well as on economic development transactions involving tax increment financing, special development districts, transit-oriented development and public-private-partnerships.
Melissa previously served as a municipal advisor and investment banker at HJ Sims, counseling nonprofit life plan communities, assisted living and skilled nursing facilities. She frequently advised management and boards of communities on capital and strategic planning matters to help them fulfill and expand their missions.
She also represents financial institutions in connection with private banking, wealth management lending, asset-based lending, commercial finance transactions, and commercial real estate secured loans.
With experience as counsel to lenders, issuers, underwriters, developers and trustees, Melissa is known for managing transactions to anticipate and resolve issues and for promoting long-term relationships among transaction parties.
