Biography

Amanda McAree represents mortgage lenders in a variety of commercial real estate financing transactions, with an emphasis on multifamily and health care project loans insured by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

She advises clients on acquisition, refinancing and permanent financing loans utilizing a variety of different financing structures, including GNMA securities-backed loans, Section 8 properties and tax-exempt financing.

Amanda previously served as a public defender in Denver and currently does pro bono work through Rising for Justice, where she assists eligible low-income individuals with sealing their criminal records. She is also a volunteer with the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria.

Amanda received the Pro Bono Recognition and Dean’s Certificate at The George Washington University Law School for donating over 400 hours of volunteer work. During her time at GW, she was also a member of the Journal of Environmental and Energy Law and interned for the Mid-Atlantic Innocence Project. In 2019, an article she wrote as a member of the Journal of Environmental and Energy Law won first place in a writing competition sponsored by New York State Bar Association’s Committee on Animals and the Law.

Shortly after graduating law school, she was a postgraduate fellow at DC Justice Lab, working in tandem with the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence.
