Hispanic Heritage Month Spotlight: Jaime Montoya

Share This Page:

This Hispanic Heritage Month, we are pleased to highlight Jaime Montoya, a principal on our GSE and HUD team in Washington. Jaime, a native of Colombia, shares advice he would give young professionals who want to stay connected to their cultural identity.

"One thing I do to stay connected is call my 98-year old grandfather every morning and early evenings when driving to and from the office. He typically likes to talk Colombian and other Latin American politics which, even at his age, he stays remarkably on top of. I also browse the Colombian newspaper online at least once a day, as well as keep in touch with my high-school friends through various WhatsApp chat groups. I love having that connectivity to my home country even after having left over 25 years ago.

"Then, of course, there is futbol. I dream to one day watch the Colombian national team win the World Cup. I think I would lose my Colombian passport if I had a different answer! Can’t wait for the World Cup to take over North America next year."
