This Pride Month, we are pleased to highlight Craig McCullough, a strategic business development manager at the firm. Craig shared with us a unique challenge facing the LGBTQIA+ community, as well as why Pride Month is important to him and the LGBTQIA+ community.

“More than a dozen states either bar or expressly allow for discrimination against LGBTQ+ individuals in adoption and foster care. As someone who would one day like to be a dad, this limits where I can adopt from and where I could ever raise a family.

Pride is a safe space to be a visible community. Being LGBTQ+ brings odd, extra stresses in the professional space, plus it’s one of the few forms of non-visible diversity. So, Pride allows us to be seen and recognized. It’s also a moment for all sub-communities to come together on common ground. Many people outside of the LGBTQ+ community don’t realize that gay men, lesbians, bisexuals and others often don’t have a lot in common or gather in the same places. But Pride brings us together like a happy (and sometimes dysfunctional) family. We can support each other in our shared goal of acceptance and equality.”
