Biography

Celia Van Lenten counsels on the full spectrum of regulatory and transactional matters that arise in health care, with niche practices helping clients navigate and comply with health privacy and cybersecurity laws, as well as advising on health care transactions.

She represents clients across the health care sector, including health systems, hospitals, long-term care providers, physician group practices, managed care organizations and digital health companies.

Celia’s regulatory practice includes federal and state health privacy, security and breach notification matters, including those implicated by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act of 2009 (HITECH); interoperability and information blocking regulations issued by the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC); health care fraud and abuse, including the Anti-Kickback Statute; Medicare and Medicaid compliance for participating providers and managed care organizations; health care licensure, certification and accreditation; medical staff and credentialing matters; and patient care matters.

In her transactional practice, Celia has represented clients in matters including provider contracting, managed care contracting, commercial contracting and mergers and acquisitions.

Celia’s past in-house experiences have deepened her understanding of the challenges her clients face. She served as the interim hospital counsel for two hospitals within a large, diversified health system in the mid-Atlantic region. In addition, Celia served as legal counsel to a national pharmacy benefit management company.
