Biography
Emily Bittner advises clients on environmental regulatory issues, real estate transactions and development projects.
She provides guidance on complex regulatory compliance issues involving various environmental statutes, including the Clean Water Act; the Clean Air Act; Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA); section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act; Oil Pollution Act; Act to Prevent Pollution from Ships; Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA); Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA); and related state statutes.
Emily previously worked in the county attorney’s office for one of the largest jurisdictions in Virginia, where she oversaw environmental matters. She also handled federal and state litigation, client counseling and training, and land use/zoning issues.
She is appointed to the Virginia State Bar’s Bench-Bar Relations Committee and formerly served on the Board of Governors of the Environmental Law Section, as well as a past member of the Virginia Bar Association’s Environment, Natural Resources & Energy Law Section Council.
