Susan DuMont, a lawyer in the firm’s Products Liability & Mass Torts practice group, presented “Hazing: Prevention Approaches and Lessons Learned” at the 28th Annual Legal Issues in Higher Education Conference at the University of Vermont. The University of Vermont annually presents one of the nation’s premiere conferences focused on the diverse legal issues impacting all aspects of higher education.
Program Description:
Hazing injuries continue to be a reality within collegiate student groups. This session aims to enable attendees to assess current campus practices regarding hazing prevention and begin to implement changes as necessary to minimize collegiate hazing and the associated risks. Join us as we discuss best practices in hazing prevention, relevant case law, and campus policies related to hazing. This session will be relevant to all attendees who manage or counsel departments that advise any student organizations, including Fraternities & Sororities, athletic teams, bands, theater groups, or living learning communities.
