Marian C. Hwang Appointed to Maryland Environmental Service Board of Directors
Miles & Stockbridge is pleased to announce that Marian C. Hwang, a principal and chair of the law firm’s Environment and Energy Practice, has been appointed by Governor Larry Hogan to the board of directors of the Maryland Environmental Service (MES).
Hwang will serve a two-year term as one of two board members from the private sector for MES, a not-for-profit public corporation and self-supporting, independent State agency that provides environmental and technical services to governmental and private sector partners.
In a formal appointment letter to Hwang, Governor Hogan expressed “great confidence in your dedication to public service” and thanked her for “making this strong personal and professional commitment to serve the best interests of our citizens.”
In her environmental law practice at Miles & Stockbridge, Hwang works extensively with and appears before Federal and State regulators and courts, has been certified as a LEED Green Associate by the U.S. Green Building Council, and has served as outside national environmental counsel to the firm’s major clients.
“Marian’s appointment to this important role reflects her considerable experience and insight into environmental issues as well as the capable and dedicated manner in which she has fulfilled her many professional and community commitments over a long career of service,” said Nancy W. Greene, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Miles & Stockbridge.
Since 2014, Hwang has served by appointment from Governor Hogan on the Judicial Nominating Commission for Trial Court District 14 (Baltimore City).
Hwang’s appointment to the MES board became effective July 1, 2021.
