Pride Month Spotlight: Cash Carter

This Pride Month, we’re pleased to spotlight Cash Carter, an associate in our Washington office. Cash shares a milestone in LGBTQIA+ history that resonated with him and why he is optimistic about the future of LGBTQIA+ rights and acceptance.
“I was in high school in 2015 when the Supreme Court issued its landmark decision in Obergefell v. Hodges guaranteeing the right to same-sex marriage under the Fourteenth Amendment. The ruling deeply resonated with me, and hearing the news profoundly shaped my understanding of equality and justice, even though I didn't fully grasp its significance then. It was a monumental step toward equality, affirming the right to marry for all, and symbolizing love and recognition for many LGBTQIA+ individuals and couples.
“Despite recent setbacks, I believe we will see increased societal acceptance, stronger legal protections and more inclusive policies. The progress made thus far is a testament to the resilience of the community, and I am confident that the next decade will bring continued advancements and greater equality.”
