Kelly Powers, a principal in the Family Law & Private Clients practice at Miles & Stockbridge, talked with The Daily Record’s “Maryland Family Law Update” about pending legislation in the General Assembly that would make Maryland a no-fault divorce state. If passed, the legislation would make Maryland the 40th state to allow a divorce for irreconcilable differences and permit a divorce after a six-month separation instead of a year. “I think (the legislation) is really modernizing Maryland family law,” Powers told MFLU, acknowledging other family law lawyers in the state don’t share her view. “We’re overdue for this change.” Read the full cover story here.
