Biography
Rita Piel brings nearly 20 years of deal-making experience as outside general counsel advising businesses ranging from startups to Fortune 100 companies with a focus on the technology industry.
Rita guides clients through public and private mergers and acquisitions, recapitalizations, business formation, contract drafting and negotiation, stockholder and member agreements and financing and investment documents, among other needs. Her experience includes stock and asset deals including SPACs and de-SPACs. She has closed more than 100 transactions with values ranging from under $1 million to over $3.5 billion.
She also structures complex development and licensing agreements that incorporate business and intellectual property considerations. She advises federal, state and local government contractors on a variety of matters, including mergers and acquisitions as well as drafting and negotiating subcontractor, teaming and licensing agreements.
