Board of Zoning Appeals OKs variance for additional generator at existing data center

Max Wiegard appeared before the Frederick County (Va.) Board of Zoning Appeals Sept. 16 on behalf of Middletown Data Center LLC as it successfully sought a variance to place supplemental backup generator equipment on its property.
Max told the board his client is looking to expand its data center operations but had been struggling to find a place for an additional backup generator due to the property’s location adjacent to Interstate 81 and multiple water and sewer easements running through the property.
