Elisabeth Hall and Mary Claire Blythe, lawyers in the firm’s Labor, Employment, Benefits and Immigration practice group, presented a seminar for the Baltimore chapter of the Worldwide Employee Benefits Network titled “Hot Topic: Navigating State and Federal Paid Sick Leave Laws.” Their monthly programming features a mix of interactive panels of benefits professionals, from employers to individual service providers and consulting firms. All bring a variety of perspectives on timely, practical issues faced by today's benefits leaders.
Program Description:
The Maryland Healthy Working Families Act went into effect February 11 with a lot of questions still left unanswered. While the new law places additional administrative burdens on employers, there are also some advantages as well. The Act will have an impact on every Maryland employer in some way, so it is critical to understand your obligations under the new law.
Join Baltimore WEB and Miles & Stockbridge on March 1st as we review national trends in paid leave, the specifics of the MD Healthy Working Families Act and explore opportunities for employers to take advantage of tax credits included in the recently passed federal tax bill.
