Representative Matters
- Representing a national insurer in consumer class actions and other consumer disputes involving claims based on the Fair Credit Reporting Act and various state statutes. Obtained multiple favorable results, including class actions settled on an individual basis and successful pursuit of an indemnity claim against a vendor.
- Representing a regional insurer in a class action alleging violations of Maryland law. Co-authored and argued a motion to dismiss the class representatives’ claims in the Prince George's County (Maryland) Circuit Court, which the court granted.
- Representing a national homebuilder in various matters, including numerous fire subrogation and premises liability claims. Obtained multiple favorable results, including dismissal of a wrongful death claim with prejudice based as a sanction for the plaintiff’s inadequate participation in discovery, and enforcement of an indemnity agreement against a vendor that resulted in the vendor’s insurer paying to settle claims against the client and reimbursing 100% of the client’s legal fees.
- Representing a Fortune 500 facilities service provider in numerous actions in state and federal courts, as well as many pre-suit investigations. Obtained numerous judgments in the client’s favor, including summary judgment motions argued in U.S. District Court in Maryland, Montgomery County (Maryland) Circuit Court and Harford County (Maryland) Circuit Court.
- Represented former landowners in a real estate tax dispute against a national homebuilder that refused to pay half of a significant transfer tax related to its purchase of a large tract of farmland. Prevailed on cross-motions for summary judgment in U.S. District Court in Maryland. The case ultimately settled with the homebuilder paying its half of the disputed transfer tax and reimbursing a substantial portion of the clients’ legal fees.
- Represented a Fortune 500 manufacturer in a dispute with a licensee that neglected to pay royalty fees. Obtained a default judgment against the licensee in U.S. District Court in Maryland. The matter ultimately settled with the licensee paying the majority of the fees owed after writs of garnishment were served on several of the licensee’s other business partners.
- Represented a Fortune 500 manufacturer in an ICC arbitration involving a dispute with a supplier over defective goods.
- Represented clients in multiple U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission matters involving product recalls, some of which involved products containing lithium-ion batteries. One of those recalls, which involved the recall of approximately one million electronic devices, was one of the most high-profile recalls in recent years.
