Miles & Stockbridge, an AmLaw 200 law firm in the mid-Atlantic region, is pleased to announce that veteran environmental, real estate and land use lawyer Maxwell H. Wiegard has joined its Richmond, Virginia office as a principal on the real estate and transactional finance team. Wiegard is the third lateral hire in the firm’s Richmond office within the past five months, joining recent recruits Stephanie Lipinski Galland, a state and local tax lawyer, and Carl R. Schwertz, a litigator.

Wiegard, who works with clients in Richmond and throughout the mid-Atlantic, provides counsel on environmental, real estate, land use, zoning and business and commercial matters. He also represents clients in environmental litigation, administrative proceedings, environmental compliance and permitting matters and environmental enforcement actions. He is currently chair of the Environmental Law Section of the Virginia Bar Association and a member of the Virginia State Bar’s Real Property Section’s Land Use and Environmental Committee.

Wiegard previously chaired Gentry Locke’s Environmental Law practice group.
