Congratulations to John T. Farnum, a principal in the Washington, D.C. office of Miles & Stockbridge, on his selection for Leadership Arlington, a nine-month program for established leaders designed to strengthen and build community in Arlington, Virginia through an experiential issue-based and skill-building curriculum.

Farnum, a commercial litigator and bankruptcy practitioner, is one of 41 individuals chosen for the 2022 class.

“For well over 20 years, Leadership Arlington has provided a powerful and transformative space for community leaders to learn and grow from one another,” said Lisa Fikes, acting president and CEO of the organization. “This year’s class of talented and diverse individuals promises to build on the strong foundation which has made Leadership Arlington a pillar in our community.”

Leadership Arlington offers an integrated, systems-based leadership education, framed around local issues.  The curriculum is designed using an experiential learning approach that includes class discussions with cross-sector thought leaders, policy analysis, and visiting local institutions where possible.

The Class of 2022 program year for Leadership Arlington begins in September 2021 and runs through May 2022.

John Farnum is a seasoned commercial litigator and bankruptcy practitioner with a strong background in construction law, financial services and real estate.

With a focus on the Washington, D.C. metropolitan region, Farnum represents clients in the state and federal courts throughout the region, including the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia (known as the “Rocket Docket”), the Circuit Court for Fairfax County, Virginia, the Circuit Court for Montgomery County, Maryland and the Superior Court for the District of Columbia.  He also regularly practices in other state and federal courts, including bankruptcy courts, around the country.
