Commercial Litigation

Miles & Stockbridge’s commercial litigators handle cases of every size and complexity.

In every case, we carefully staff the matter in consideration of the nature of the action, the best interests of the client and the realistic amount in controversy.

Our goal is to resolve disputes successfully, efficiently and cost-effectively. To achieve this, we combine aggressive trial advocacy with an understanding of our clients’ businesses, providing practical and effective solutions that support tangible strategic objectives.

We routinely represent clients in a wide array of commercial disputes. Such cases typically involve claims of breach of contract, business torts, unfair trade practices and/or other statutory claims arising in a variety of commercial contexts and industries.

Our commercial litigators regularly appear in federal and state courts throughout the United States, before state and federal regulators, and before private commercial arbitration bodies such as the American Arbitration Association. Our litigators regularly handle breach of contract and breach of warranty claims; dealer termination and franchise litigation; supply chain disputes, including claims arising under the Uniform Commercial Code and the United Nations Convention for the International Sale of Goods; advertising contract disputes; licensing disputes; commercial lease disputes; and non-compete and trade secret litigation.

While the claims and issues vary, our commercial litigators approach each case with the objective of reaching the best result for the client as quickly and efficiently as possible. We prepare each case as if it eventually will be tried, but actively look for ways to either dispose or limit opposing claims and defenses through preliminary motions and pursue early settlement or other forms of alternative dispute resolution when appropriate and in the best interests of our client.
