Miles & Stockbridge is pleased to announce that Lisa Keenan, a principal who leads the firm’s Health Care Practice Group, has earned The Daily Record’s Leadership in Law honor.

The Daily Record launched Leadership in Law in 2001 to recognize Maryland’s legal professionals—lawyers and judges—whose dedication to their occupation and to their communities is outstanding. Winners were selected by an outside panel of legal and business leaders.

Keenan will be honored during a celebration on the evening of April 7. She also will be featured in a special magazine inserted into the April 8 issue of The Daily Record and online at TheDailyRecord.com. (Login may be required.)

She helps healthcare clients achieve their business goals while maintaining compliance with complex federal and state health care regulations. In this work, she serves as outside general counsel with her team for two hospital systems for which they handle all legal matters that arise. She also serves as outside general counsel for a national non-profit advocacy organization in Texas that provides resources for life-saving and life-extending treatments to people in need of access to care.

Her regulatory expertise includes fraud and abuse laws (e.g., Anti-Kickback and Stark), HIPAA, Medicare/Medicaid compliance and professional licensing. In addition to hospitals and physician groups, she advises continuing care retirement communities, emerging medical device and pharmaceutical manufacturers and other health care providers and businesses.

She is known for mentoring her team and keeping an eye on the future. She enjoys helping younger lawyers develop their practices, build client relationships and learn the ropes of running the practice. In addition, she has served on the board of the Greater Maryland Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association for at least three years.
