Miles & Stockbridge announced today that Andrew Weiner, an insurance coverage litigator, has joined the Washington, D.C. office of the law firm as a principal.

Weiner, who has more than two decades of experience representing corporate policyholders in all manner of complex insurance coverage disputes, will be a leading member of the firm’s fast-growing Insurance Recovery group.

“We are so happy to add someone of Andy’s caliber to our insurance recovery practice,” said Joe Beavers, an insurance coverage and environmental litigator who chairs the firm’s Products Liability, Mass Torts and Environmental Practice Group.

Weiner has represented policyholders in all phases of litigation and arbitration, including as trial counsel in jury and bench trials and as appellate counsel.  His insurance litigation experience extends to a wide variety of insurance coverage matters, including professional liability, directors and officers liability, pharmaceutical and other products liability, cyber liability, first-party property damage and business interruption, fidelity and crime, environmental liabilities, employment liability, and advertising injury. He also has a particular interest in the unique insurance risks facing private equity firms.

Weiner also advises clients on how to manage and mitigate risk via insurance policy audits in connection with corporate transactions and policy renewals, as well as through contractual indemnities.  His counsel in the area of managing risk extends to monitoring insurer involvement in the insured’s defense of underlying claims, and securing insurer participation in efforts to resolve such claims.

A graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law, Weiner earned his bachelor’s degree cum laude from the University of Maryland. He was most recently a partner in the Washington, D.C. office of Reed Smith LLP.
