In honor of Women’s History Month, we are pleased to highlight seven staff colleagues at Miles & Stockbridge with an extensive history with the firm: Judy Dorsett, Ann Fuchs, Amanda Linthicum, Shannon Dempsey, Lynn Minor, Jackie Ritzel and Sheila Sparrow-Hamilton. Each of these colleagues has devoted at least 30 years of their careers to Miles & Stockbridge and reached a five-year milestone in 2022 or 2023.

Judy, a legal practice assistant in the Intellectual Property practice in Tysons, passed the 45-year mark in November.

“Judy is a consummate professional who is encouraging and nice to all of her colleagues, and an absolute pleasure to work with,” says David Schaffer, who has worked with Judy tangentially for over 18 years and directly for about the last five years. “She is a great person who really cares about others and doing the best job possible.”

Ann, a legal practice assistant for the Commercial/Real Estate and Litigation practices in Baltimore, will mark 45 years at the firm in August.

“It is a joy to work with Ann,” says Ford Loker, who has worked with Ann for nearly seven years. “I cannot forget to do anything because Ann never forgets anything — and reminds me. She is organized and efficient and knows her job down to the most-minute detail. She strives for perfection and is conscientious to a fault. Ann is well-liked and highly respected for her sunny attitude (except on mornings following a Ravens loss) and constant willingness to help anyone and everyone with anything needing doing.”

Amanda, a legal practice assistant in the Corporate practice in Frederick, reached her 35-year anniversary with the firm last August.

“I have worked closely with Amanda for 35 years and she has been an integral part of the development and success of my practice during that time,” says Greg Burgee. “She has attained a level of experience and knowledge during that time that makes her a vital part of the team.”

Shannon, a legal practice assistant in the Real Estate & Transactional Finance practice in Baltimore, had her 30-year anniversary last July.

“It has been a pleasure to work side-by-side with Shannon over three decades — with the first half at Venable and then Miles & Stockbridge,” says Sandy Howard. “Shannon is a talented professional, who has played a key role in the growth of my practice and client relationships.”

Lynn, an administrative assistant in the Real Estate & Transactional Finance practice, also reached 30 years at the firm in July.

“Lynn has been a go-to assistant for me and many others in the practice throughout our careers,” says Sandy. “I have relied on Lynn for much support and am grateful for her willingness to jump in wherever needed to handle the task at hand, enthusiastically and professionally.”

Jackie, the firm’s director of facilities, marked 30 years in September.

“I greatly admire Jackie and how she has taken on and grown into different roles in the firm throughout her career,” says Chief Human Resources Officer Kym Wimbish. “In her current position, Jackie is both a buffer and a liaison for the firm and our seven building managers and she handles it all with such grace.”

Sheila, an office and client services assistant in Baltimore, celebrated her 30-year anniversary in February.

“I call her my right hand,” says Office Services Manager Saphira Marshall, who has worked with Sheila for 24 of those years. “Sheila plays an intricate part in making sure firm meetings go off without a hitch. She’s very detailed oriented when it comes to setting up client meetings and firm events. She’s passionate about making sure she caters to everyone’s diet restrictions as well as food preferences.”

We are incredibly fortunate to call all of these women colleagues and friends, and we thank them for their devoted service to our clients and our firm.
