Kelly Powers talked to The Daily Record’s Maryland Family Law Update, a monthly roundup of family law issues and appellate cases about the impact of an update to the state’s child support statue. The new law defines “voluntary impoverishment” and requires the court to make a determination if either side raises the issue. It also stipulates stay-at-home parents caring for a child under 2 cannot be considered voluntarily impoverished. “It’s a ‘shall,’” Kelly noted of the new law. “That makes it mandatory.” Click here to read the story.
