Miles & Stockbridge Expands Leadership Team

New Appointments Support Focus on Culture, Client Service and Operational Excellence
Miles & Stockbridge, an Am Law 200 law firm with more than 200 lawyers across Maryland, Washington, D.C., Virginia and New York, announced today the expansion of its leadership team, supporting its focus on culture, client service and operational excellence. The appointments follow Scott Wilson’s election as Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of the firm in February and reflect a succession planning process that identified additional leaders across the firm, office and practice group levels.
“Having just wrapped up the first quarter, I’m energized by our accomplishments and excited for what lies ahead,” said Wilson. “This evolution of our leadership team is the next step in a deliberate and collaborative succession planning process by the Board. The firm’s commitment to developing strong leaders from within has helped position us for sustained growth while preserving the values and strategic vision that have guided the firm for years.”
Strengthening Local Leadership in Baltimore
Stephanie Baron has been named the Office Managing Principal of the Baltimore office to focus on supporting the firm’s presence in the Baltimore community and the office culture. This role was traditionally part of the Chairman’s responsibilities, but will now be a distinct role, consistent with the firm’s other offices. As a principal and co-leader of the firm’s Labor, Employment, Benefits & Immigration practice, Baron has focused her work on helping clients build and foster successful workplaces and is widely sought out as a mentor and connector by clients and colleagues alike. Baron will continue to counsel clients and co-lead the practice. She has chaired the firm’s Recruitment Committee and Women’s Network and is a founder and co-leader of The Jewish Alliance (TheTribe@Miles) and her commitment to service extends well beyond the firm to community board roles.
Expanding Practice Leadership in Government Contracts
The firm also announced that Jeremy Scholtes will co-lead the Government Contracts practice alongside current co-leader C. Peter Dungan. Scholtes joined the firm a dozen years ago and became a principal in 2019. Ray Monroe, whose leadership led to significant growth and client success, will continue to advise, mentor and contribute to the team’s success in the years ahead.
Supporting Growth and Integration
Two additional leaders announced earlier in the year are also part of this next generation of leadership. Suzzanne Decker was named the firm’s first Chief Growth Officer. Her C-suite appointment recognizes her leadership in the firm’s growth initiatives over the past three years—a period marked by significant and sustained expansion along the East Coast—and supports the firm’s ongoing growth strategies.
And, in January, Melissa Johnson assumed full responsibility as Office Managing Principal for both of Miles & Stockbridge’s Washington, D.C. locations, overseeing the next phase of integration following the firm’s December 31, 2024 merger with Krooth & Altman.
“These leaders are focused on one thing: helping our clients succeed,” Wilson added. “By investing in leadership across the firm, we’re ensuring we remain responsive, forward-looking and aligned with the needs of the businesses and organizations we serve.”
