Nicole Whitecar Honored with Generation J.D. Award
Miles & Stockbridge is pleased to announce that Nicole Whitecar, an associate in the firm’s Labor, Employment, Benefits & Immigration Practice Group, has earned The Daily Record’s Generation J.D. Award, given to up-and-coming legal professionals who are already making a difference in their profession and in their communities. Whitecar was recognized during an online celebration on June 17 along with Joseph Hovermill, a senior member the firm’s Products Liability and Mass Torts Practice Group and president emeritus of the firm, who earned The Daily Record’s Leadership in Law honor. Winners for both honors were selected by an outside panel of legal and business leaders.
Whitecar advises on the highly regulated areas of law for community colleges and for-profit education clients. Her practice is a mix of management-side employment counsel and litigation along with education regulatory compliance and litigation. She also frequently conducts due diligence on employment issues that may impact transactional matters for firm clients.
The niche that Whitecar has developed in education law builds on her previous career as a middle school math teacher in Baltimore, New York and Virginia. She also worked for an organization that offers innovative programs to improve outcomes for middle and high school students and for Teach For America as manager of teacher leadership development.
