Experienced advisor to public and private companies, entrepreneurs and investors brings decades of boardroom and executive leadership experience to national corporate practice

Yellen has joined the firm’s New York office as a principal in its Corporate & Securities practice group.

Yellen brings more than three decades of experience advising boards, executives, entrepreneurs and investors on complex transactions and strategic decisions. His experience spans a broad range of industries and includes service as general counsel and as a board member of both publicly traded and privately held companies.

Yellen is a founding partner at Greyhart Capital, an investor in search funds and entrepreneurship through acquisition, and has advised searchers for over 20 years. He previously served as executive vice president and general counsel of FelCor Lodging Trust and as vice president and associate general counsel at Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide.

Yellen has a longstanding professional relationship with Miles & Stockbridge, working closely with J.W. Thompson Webb, Scott R. Wilson and Charles F. “Trey” Hilberg III. He and Webb first worked together more than 20 years ago when Yellen first joined the executive team at FelCor (which the firm advised from its formation in 1995 through its sale in 2017), and Jon has collaborated with the firm’s Corporate & Securities practice group since that time.

Yellen has served on boards at companies ranging from oil field services to healthcare providers to food manufacturing. He is currently a board member at PsychoGeriatric Services, a provider of mental health care to patients at long-term care facilities, and the lead independent director at Basic American Foods, the largest manufacturer of shelf-stable dehydrated potato products in the United States.
