Biography

Lisa Stevens represents clients in all aspects of bankruptcy matters with a focus on corporate reorganizations, creditors rights and commercial litigation.

She previously worked as a trial attorney for the United States Trustee Program, a litigating component of the Department of Justice with broad administrative, regulatory and enforcement authority over the bankruptcy process.  Lisa actively oversaw all aspects of Chapter 11 proceedings including corporate governance, employment applications, fee applications, first-day motions, disclosure statements and plan confirmation matters.

Lisa was a leading member of a team that oversaw all complex Chapter 11 cases filed in the Mid-Atlantic region and advised eight regional offices on these matters. Her other duties included trustee oversight, civil enforcement to combat bankruptcy fraud and abuse and criminal enforcement by referring possible criminal matters to the U.S. attorneys’ offices for investigation and prosecution.

Before joining the U.S. Trustee Program, Lisa was in private practice representing individuals and businesses in all aspects of bankruptcy, including complex Chapter 11 reorganizations, Chapter 7 consumer and business liquidations and Chapter 13 individual reorganizations. She has successfully confirmed multiple Chapter 11 reorganization plans and has significant experience working with businesses and high-net worth individuals in financial distress.

In addition to her successful legal practice, Lisa is actively involved in the Maryland Bankruptcy Bar Association and the Maryland Chapter of the International Women’s Insolvency and Restructuring Confederation (IWIRC). She further volunteers with high school students on topics of credit, student loans, budgeting and financial literacy.
