Congratulations to Kelly Powers, a principal in the Family Law and Private Clients practice of Miles & Stockbridge and co-leader of the firm’s Litigation practice, for being named the 2022 recipient of the Byron L. Warnken Award from the University of Baltimore Law Alumni Association.

The award was named after the “legendary professor known as Mr. UB and honors a graduate who has enhanced the reputation of the law school and the legal profession by demonstrating excellence in their practice through high ethical standards, commitment to community service, and commitment to mentoring law students and fellow attorneys.” Powers, a 2006 graduate of UB Law, received her award during UBLAA’s annual holiday party on Dec. 16.

Powers helps clients through high-net-worth divorce, high-conflict custody, international child abduction, and federal and state family law appellate work. Her divorce practice focuses on cases involving the valuation and division of complex business and other family assets. Her child-related practice focuses on international and interstate child abduction cases, jurisdictional disputes and domestic violence matters. She is also a qualified solicitor in England and Wales.

Each year, the law school recognizes alumni who embody the spirit of a UB Law education and who make a difference and inspire excellence in the legal community. Nominations are collected by the law school and selected by members of the UB Law Alumni Board.
