Miles & Stockbridge, a leading business law firm in the mid-Atlantic region, announced today that Sarah D. Cline, a highly regarded transactional lawyer with significant experience in both commercial and residential real estate, has joined the firm’s growing real estate practice and Frederick office.

While Cline’s legal practice encompasses a broad range of real estate related areas, she focuses on the representation of buyers, sellers and lenders in the acquisition, sale and financing of real estate across the mid-Atlantic region. In this work, she draws on her litigation background as needed to anticipate potential problems in real estate transactions, and to help address any that arise before they cause further issues.

“I am thrilled to have Sarah onboard,” said Stacy Manley, a real estate principal in the Baltimore office, who has worked closely with Cline through the years in various volunteer endeavors with the Real Property Section of the Maryland State Bar Association. “I’ve seen firsthand how Sarah works and she gets things done. Not only is she sought out by clients for the acquisition, sale and financing of real estate, but she is often brought in for troubleshooting whatever comes up in real estate matters.”

In addition, Cline regularly works with real estate and mortgage brokers, advising on their day-to-day operations, regulatory compliance and dispute resolution. She also has built a niche practice in addressing the real estate needs of solar energy companies with development projects across Maryland and Virginia. Many of her solar projects have been large scale—often in the $150-$200 million range and taking three to five years to complete.

A leader in the legal community, Cline is Chair of the Real Property Section of the Maryland State Bar Association and Chair of the Fellows for the Maryland Bar Foundation. She recently served as Co-Chair of the Real Estate Section of the Bar Association of Montgomery County and is currently a Bar Leader for the Montgomery County Bar Foundation. She also is a former Fellow of the American Bar Association Section of Real Property, Trust and Estate Law, and currently serves as Chair of the Single Family Residential Committee of the American Bar Association Section of Real Property, Trust and Estate Law, and Vice-Chair of the Joint Law Practice Management Group of the American Bar Association Section of Real Property, Trust and Estate Law.

She served for five years as the Coordinator of the Wills for Heroes Program in Maryland, which provides free wills, living wills, health care and financial powers of attorney to first responders throughout the state, and she continues to volunteer with the program regularly. She also is an advocate for animals and serves on the board of Days End Farm Horse Rescue in Woodbine, Maryland.
