Biography

Lyle Hedgecock is a decorated U.S. Air Force veteran who tackles clients’ toughest government contract challenges, including bid protests and compliance concerns.

Lyle brings a lifetime of high-tech test and evaluation and organizational leadership experience to his law practice. He has managed the execution of multibillion-dollar contracts involving sensitive, high-technology space systems, including contractual/compliance matters. Lyle previously served as director of operations for the Defense Meteorological Satellite Program, where he supervised the operation of all U.S. Air Force weather satellites. He commanded an experimental satellite detachment and conducted test and evaluation of cutting-edge space technologies.

Lyle served as an emergency actions officer at the Pentagon, where he organized and facilitated national leadership discussions on emerging global events including foreign missile launches, major terrorist activity and command and control conferences for both wartime and humanitarian relief operations. Additionally, he has served as an instructor, evaluator, and combat-crew commander for strategic nuclear missile operations in the missile fields of the northern United States.

Prior to joining Miles & Stockbridge, Lyle worked at Morrison Foerster, where he handled bid protests, white collar investigations, and oversaw numerous mergers and acquisitions involving government contractors.

Before entering private practice, Lyle also served as a law clerk to the chief judge of the U.S. Court of Federal Claims. He also provided legal services to the Air Force Legal Office, Joint Base Andrews, to resolve high-profile, white-collar investigations of suspected Federal Acquisition Regulation violations and counseled government clients on compliance issues.

Lyle received his bachelor’s degree in management studies from the University of Maryland, College Park followed by his master’s degree in strategic intelligence from the American Military University. He earned his J.D. from the American University Washington College of Law, where he studied government contract law, national security law and space law. Outside of the classroom, Lyle was a student attorney at the general practice and civil advocacy clinics and received a Clinical Legal Education Association’s Student of the Year Award.
