Miles & Stockbridge, a leading business law firm in the mid-Atlantic region, is pleased to announce that highly regarded corporate finance lawyer John Badman, IV has joined the firm’s Richmond office as a principal in its Corporate & Securities Practice Group. Focusing on commercial borrowing and lending, Badman has represented publicly traded and portfolio company borrowers in secured and unsecured term, revolving and bridge loan facilities.

At Miles & Stockbridge, Badman will focus much of this work on portfolio company acquisitions and re-financings for private equity clients, along with representation of lenders and corporate borrowers in debt finance transactions.

“We are thrilled to have John on board,” said Scott Wilson, co-leader of the firm’s Corporate & Securities Practice Group. “He brings deep corporate finance experience and will be a great resource for our clients. We hope that John is the first of many transactional lawyers we hire in the Richmond market as we continue to grow and expand our transactional practices.”

John has provided hundreds of hours of pro bono service, including ongoing work with the Mid-Atlantic Innocence Project’s Screening Committee reviewing cases of prisoners maintaining their innocence. He is newly serving on the Richmond Bar Association Membership Committee and recently completed his term as Chair of the Richmond Bar Association Pro Bono Committee for the 2021-22 year.

Badman earned his J.D. from Washington and Lee University School of Law and his bachelor’s degree from Trinity College. He joins Miles & Stockbridge from the Richmond office of McGuireWoods LLP.
