Biography

Kate Harrington represents owners, operators and real estate managers in various disputes, workouts and defaults under commercial leases and related agreements.

Kate supports real estate clients across all facets of their operations, addressing complex legal and operational challenges that arise as they manage, own, operate and lease real estate portfolios. Kate drafts and negotiates commercial leases and related agreements, including assignments and amendments, property management agreements, vendor contracts and operating manuals. She represents commercial landlords as creditors in various bankruptcy and insolvency proceedings and has served as counsel to commercial landlords in a variety of national retailers’ Chapter 11 proceedings.

She is accustomed to the regular change-of-ownership transactions in the shopping center sector and readily assists owners after and during such transactions.

Kate also counsels clients regarding development rights, land use and zoning, eminent domain and condemnation, the valuation of real property and real estate assets, construction, leasing, brokerage services contracts and fraud.

She previously was a partner in a mid-Atlantic law firm where she primarily counseled commercial real property owners. She also represented government agencies in real estate acquisitions in connection with major infrastructure projects, litigation over eminent domain and condemnation and other disputes.

Kate serves on the leadership team for the Washington DC Latvian School.
