Miles Minority Network

A group of minority lawyers at Miles & Stockbridge formed the Miles Minority Network to create opportunities to build a vibrant minority professional community and serve as a resource for professionals of all backgrounds in the mid-Atlantic region.

The group is co-chaired by Sasha Hodge-Wren, a counsel in our Labor, Employment, Benefits & Immigration Practice Group, and Reginald Smallwood, an associate in our Corporate, Securities & Tax Practice Group.

We also take pride in our ongoing partnership with the Corporate Counsel Women of Color

All of our affinity groups are open to everyone – regardless of background or identity. We are committed to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment where all are welcome to engage in meaningful conversations and initiatives that promote the firm’s commitment to equal opportunity in our community.

2025 MMN Holiday Party: The Miles Minority Network held its annual holiday party Dec. 11 at The Center Club in Baltimore. It's a highlight of the season to be able to connect and catch up with so many clients, colleagues and other friends of the firm for a little holiday cheer and a shared commitment to affecting positive change in the area's social and business landscape.

Panel Discussion on Black Businesses: The Miles Minority Network held a lunchtime panel discussion exploring the historical challenges of Black business ownership in conjunction with Black History Month in 2025. The talk connected well with the national theme for Black History Month, “African Americans and Labor,” highlighting the resilience, innovation and advocacy that have driven progress in workplaces and communities.

Panelists included Alex Aaron, founder and CEO of Blank Slate, a Baltimore-based minority-owned real estate firm that provides construction, development and management services; Warren Allen, who prior to joining Miles & Stockbridge co-owned a law firm with Ray McKenzie; Travis Bell, owner of Black Acres Roastery, an artisan coffee roaster based in Baltimore’s Station North neighborhood; and Yvette Pappoe, a professor at the University of The District of Columbia’s David A. Clarke School of Law, entrepreneur and a former litigation associate at the firm.
