Insurance Recovery, Environmental Litigator Joseph L. Beavers and Government Contracts Lawyer Stephen P. Ramaley Join Miles & Stockbridge Board of Directors
Miles & Stockbridge announced today that Joseph L. Beavers, an insurance recovery and environmental litigator who co-leads the firm’s Litigation Practice Group, and Stephen P. Ramaley, a government contracts lawyer recognized nationally for his work with small business government contractors, have been elected to the firm’s Board of Directors.
“Joe and Steve have different legal practices but the same commitment to providing zealous and results-oriented representation to their clients,” said Nancy Greene, chairman, president and CEO. “They join the board on the heels of a very strong 2024, which was capped off by the firm’s merger with Krooth & Altman to bolster our real estate finance practice. The board looks forward to Joe and Steve’s insights and support in charting our long-term success and growth.”

Beavers has over two decades of experience as an insurance coverage litigator. He advises clients on, and litigates claims involving, virtually all lines of coverage, including directors and officers (D&O), errors and omissions (E&O), commercial general liability (CGL), property and business interruption, representations and warranties (RWI), cyber and crime. He is also an environmental lawyer with extensive trial experience. Since 2021, Beavers has been recognized as an industry leader for insurance in the Maryland edition of Chambers and Partners USA. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Coverage Counsel.

Ramaley supports clients in all areas of government contracting, with a focus on the U.S. Small Business Administration’s socioeconomic government contracting programs, including the small business, Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business, Woman-Owned Small Business, 8(a) Business Development and HUBZone programs. He frequently writes and speaks on challenges facing the government contracts and grants communities and has given testimony as a subject matter expert before Congress.
