Miles & Stockbridge Elects 8 Lawyers as Principals

Miles & Stockbridge is pleased to announce that lawyers Kristin N. Burtzlaff, Henryka W. Craig, Leslie M. Cumber, Charles F. (Trey) Hilberg III, Sasha (Hodge-Wren) Johnson, Gillian Santos, Christopher F. Sennett and James A. Sullivan, Jr. have been elected principals of the law firm.
The new class of principals merges legal acumen with deep understanding of their industries to deliver client-focused solutions in the following areas:
- Advising businesses on mergers and acquisitions, as well as every other phase of their life cycles
- Assisting clients with all types of public finance, project finance, real estate finance and equipment finance transactions
- Providing counsel to clients across all sectors of the health care industry
- Representing businesses in a variety of employment matters, including discrimination, harassment and traditional labor disputes
- Defending corporate clients and executives facing government investigations
- Handling divorce and other family law matters

Kristin N. Burtzlaff advises clients across a variety of industries on mergers and acquisitions, private capital market transactions, entity structuring and formation, and general corporate law. She has assisted both buyers and sellers in several multimillion-dollar equity transactions and has helped companies with early-stage private investment raises.
Henryka W. Craig assists clients with public finance and equipment finance matters. Her public finance practice includes serving as bond counsel and counsel to underwriters and developers in connection with tax increment and special taxing district bond issues, among other matters. She also has extensive experience with lease finance of rail and other equipment assets.
Leslie M. Cumber represents hospitals, health systems, physician groups, ambulatory care facilities, post-acute care providers and other health care industry participants in mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures and strategic affiliations. Her transactional work is informed by extensive regulatory experience, including federal and state fraud and abuse laws, licensure and reimbursement considerations.
Charles F. (Trey) Hilberg III advises clients in entity structuring, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, capital raises, business succession planning and other securities and governance matters. He also regularly assists companies on Maryland corporate law issues, including publicly traded REITs and investment companies.
Sasha (Hodge-Wren) Johnson advises and defends businesses and nonprofits in matters involving discrimination and harassment, retaliation, family medical leave, wrongful discharge, wage and hour issues and reasonable accommodation claims. She also handles white-collar criminal defense matters and counsels on government and internal investigations.
Gillian Santos leads the firm’s traditional labor practice, providing strategic advice in evaluating and navigating vulnerabilities when workplace issues arise in unionized and nonunionized environments. She advises companies and nonprofits on contract enforcement, union organizing campaigns and messaging, union elections and decertifications and unfair labor practice charges, among other matters.
Christopher F. Sennett focuses on tax-exempt and taxable bond transactions for commercial and investment banks, political subdivisions, economic development agencies, for-profit and nonprofit entities, among other clients. He has served as bond counsel on transactions in the District of Columbia, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Virginia and represents regional and national financial institutions in transactions involving project finance and real estate finance.
James A. Sullivan, Jr. represents clients in complex divorce, child custody, property division and other family law matters, providing advice and support tailored to each client’s unique situation. He regularly counsels on high-net-worth divorce work, high-conflict custody disputes and international child abduction cases, along with federal and state private client appellate work.
